Canal + Africa
Houda El Amri began her career in Tunisia as a cultural journalist specializing in cinema and theater, as well as a press officer for the Tunisian National Ballet and the Nouveau Théâtre. In 1992, she made history by becoming the first host of Canal+ Horizons Tunisia, participating in the launch of the channel.
After studying philosophy, she joined Canal+ Horizons in Paris, where she developed her expertise in cinema and audiovisual media. A passionate cinephile, particularly involved in promoting African cinemas, she uses her experience to support and highlight projects and films that reflect the richness and diversity of African stories
As a project facilitator and curator, she is involved in identifying, monitoring, and showcasing films with unique perspectives. She plays an active role in creating connections between authors, producers, and audiences, promoting the circulation of works, their visibility, and their impact..
She has served on the juries of prestigious festivals such as FESPACO, the Khouribga African Film Festival, Cinéma du Réel, and Dakar Court.
After holding positions as a programming manager, she is now an Editorial Advisor in Film Acquisition for Canal+ Africa, within the Canal+ group. In this role, she is responsible for studying, evaluating, and developing co-production projects, whether feature films, documentaries, short films, or animation, as well as prospecting and distributing African films in theaters and across Africa. She is also an Advisor for the Canal+ University label, contributing to the promotion of emerging talents and the training of new generations of creators.
