KINGDOMWOOD INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
Audrey Thomas is the Founder and CEO of Kingdomwood International Film Festival, a platform dedicated to promoting family-friendly and faith-based films and entertainment. Since its launch in 2008, Kingdomwood has grown into a respected global platform with more than 10,000 subscribers, supporting emerging filmmakers and film production in Georgia and around the world.
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Audrey grew up in a Christian household where her love for media, television, and storytelling began at an early age. Her passion for entertainment and authentic storytelling was influenced by prominent leaders and artists, including Reverend C.L. Franklin, the legendary Baptist minister, civil rights activist, and father of iconic singer-songwriter Aretha Franklin.
Audrey earned a degree in Computer Science Engineering from Mountain View College in Dallas, Texas, and later pursued studies in Broadcast Management at the University of Texas at Arlington. Combining her technical background with her passion for media, she developed a vision to create a platform that would inspire positive storytelling through film.
The journey to building Kingdomwood was not without challenges. In the early years, Audrey was inspired by a sermon from Bishop Eddie Long of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, who expressed the need for a “Kingdomwood” — a faith-centered alternative within the entertainment industry. Motivated by that vision, Audrey proposed the idea of launching a Kingdomwood Christian Film Festival, receiving strong support from her choir community and business partner Joe Williams.
Years later, Bishop Long personally met with Audrey and acknowledged the importance of the Kingdomwood vision, expressing his desire to support the movement before his passing in 2017. Today, Audrey continues to expand Kingdomwood’s mission of uplifting filmmakers, artists, and audiences through inspiring and meaningful entertainment.
